The county has posted the initial write-in counts from the May primary. The following candidates appear to have been successfully written in:
- Francis Bernhart, Republican for Nether Providence Tax Collector
- James Mason, Democrat for Judge of Election, Ward 3
- Kristy Chen, Democrat for Inspector of Election, Ward 1, Precinct 2
- Jane Miluski, Democrat for Inspector of Election, Ward 3
- Jacque Knight, Democrat for Inspector of Election, Ward 5, Precinct 1 (assuming the spellings are accumulated)
- Patricia Tillson, Democrat for Inspector of Election, Ward 6, Precinct 2
For those of you that wrote in Donald Trump, Kanye West, Klondike Bear, Mr. Biscute, Wanda Sykes, Mike Lindell, Bernie Sanders, Ron Swanson, and Bill Clinton, I’m afraid they were all unsuccessful, even if they were eligible.
One last note, about four times as many Democrats and twice as many Republicans voted as in the 2015 primary, a sign that more people are engaging in our democracy taking every election seriously. Well, mostly seriously.
