This evening the township held a dedication event at Furness Park for the new trail work that has been done. Ben Pickup of the township’s parks commission spoke about the community’s efforts to transform the park, and township commissioner Matt Garson was on hand to highlight the help the county and state have given the township with local parks. Matt also presented a certificate of appreciation from the commissioners to Ben for his work in the park. With LED lanterns we followed the upgraded trail around the park, which has new picnic tables and benches since I was last there. At the end there was soda and pizza, which was popular with the children. The event was well-attended by families and supporters of the park.
As a bonus, earlier today I also attended the closing of the Aston vaccine site the county’s Citizen Corp has run since February. You can see an aerial shot of the volunteers on the citizen corp’s Facebook page, Christine and me are in the C on the left. We were told that 69,000 vaccine doses had been given out by the staff and volunteers at the Aston community center alone since it was opened.
