Large Fuel Spill in Brookhaven

Front page on yesterday’s DelCo Times was a story about a fuel spill in Brookhaven at the Gas N Go there. The spill has killed wildlife and looks to have closed nearby Coeburn Elementary for the remainder of the school year. The Inquirer has a further story today saying as many as 4,700 gallons may have spilled as the spill was undiscovered for hours. The article says,

The spill killed dozens of frogs, turtles, and fish, and contaminated Chester Creek and an elementary school’s retention pond.

Likely it would have been even worse had so much of the fuel not collected in the retention pond. The DA’s office is investigating and the PA DEP is working on the cleanup.
