WSSD Strategic Plan Community Meetings
The Wallingford-Swarthmore School District, in partnership with Bloom Planning, has launched its Strategic Planning process. As part of this process, we will be holding four two-hour community meetings in the months of January and March. These meetings will provide an opportunity to solicit your feedback and to gather your input in both small and large groups. All meeting times are below:
January 9 Community meeting 7:00pm – 9:00pm SHMS Cafeteria
January 12 Community meeting 9:00am- 11:00am SHMS B-226
March 11 Community meeting 9:00am- 11:00am SHMS Cafeteria
March 16 Community meeting 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Zoom (Link will be made available)
At the January community meetings, we will begin soliciting interest and forming sub-committees. These sub-committees will provide input related to how the strategic plan will be put into action. If you are interested in being considered to serve on an action-oriented, sub-committee this spring, you should plan to attend one of the two January meetings. Please RSVP your attendance at either of these community meetings below.**It is not necessary to attend both January meetings; however, you are welcome at both.
I’m not sure what additional input will be gathered beyond what was collected before the break, presumably the statements we read in those surveys haven’t changed significantly over the break. But, perhaps this is a chance to explore more complex issues that the surveys didn’t address – such as the concerns of neurodivergent students and working class parents.
Along those lines, its frustrating that yet again, the district has included this, “If you are interested in being considered to serve on an action-oriented, sub-committee this spring, you should plan to attend one of the two January meetings.” Why should I have to attend one of two in person meetings in order to participate in this? This excludes a whole swath of people that cannot meet these times or circumstances but could contribute to the district. The school district does this over and over and over and seems unwilling to change.
Attend these meetings if you can – the long term plan of the district is important to all of us. If you can’t attend, you can use the contact form here to send me a message. I can’t make any promises, but I’ll do my best to raise your concerns at the meeting (within reason).
