MLK Day is coming up next weekend and several local organizations have events planned for the weekend.
WSSD has a morning of activities planned at SHMS on Monday, Jan 16th. They have a breakfast, performances in the auditorium, a wax museum and service projects and finish with cake.
The Media Fellowship House is holding its day of service from 1-4 pm (just after the WSSD event). They are looking for people to drop off donations and then distribute them to the local organizations that the fellowship house supports.
Chester is also holding its MLK Day of Service. They are holding a peace march and community cleanup starting from the Calvary Baptist Church in Chester.
If you’re looking for something asynchronous (or just want more), Furness Library’s latest email said,
The library will be closed on Monday January 16 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will be offering Take-N-Make Kits for younger community members so they can participate in this important day of service. Families can choose from one of two activities – making bookmarks for Surrey Services for Seniors or paracord lanyards for Operation Gratitude. The kits will be available in the days leading up the Monday January 16. Quantities are limited. Keep an eye out for more information soon!
